Sciencesoft are a Scottish company and a world leader in 3D visualisation and analysis software for the global oil and gas industry. The company was co-founded in 1995 by two brothers, Dr Lindsay Wood (Director of R&D) and William Wood (Director of Sales & Marketing).
Dr Angela Wood was pivotal in establishing the company and is now director of Business Support.
Sciencesoft’s Reservoir Simulation Suite of products helps engineers analyse reservoir simulation results, enabling engineers to make multi-million-dollar field planning and development decisions. The flagship post-processor product S3GRAF was launched in 2000. S3GRAF is an easy-to-use, Windows-based, visualisation and analysis tool for reservoir engineers. This is now being superseded by S3analyse. Since then, pre-processing, sector modelling, scheduling and history matching tools have been added to the growing portfolio of products.
Sciencesoft’s success is based on constant innovation designed to meet the needs of a fast moving oil and gas industry. Sciencesoft’s efforts have been recognised by prestigious awards, such as the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, and the John Logie Baird Award for Impact through Innovation.
Today, Sciencesoft’s software is used by over 200 companies worldwide.

Dr Lindsay Wood – Research & Development Director
Lindsay is a highly respected physicist with a distinguished research career. Prior to founding Sciencesoft, Lindsay worked as a Research Physicist at CERN in Switzerland. He then joined ECL and was one of the lead developers of the world’s leading commercial oil and gas reservoir simulator. In the last 30 years as Director of R&D, Lindsay has overseen the development of Sciencesoft’s growing, state-of-the-art software suite.
William Wood – Sales & Marketing Director
William also studied physics at university and then for over 10 years had a successful career in sales in electronics and technical software. William’s expertise in understanding and satisfying our customer’s needs has seen rapid growth in our international business. Our network of international agents is now well established, along with our presence at international oil and gas events.
Dr Angela Wood – Business Support Director
Angela was born in Malta and was awarded an Overseas Research Scholarship, to complete a PhD in Biochemistry at St. Andrews University. Before helping found Sciencesoft, Angela worked in the pharmaceutical industry in Europe and then in business development for a major medical publishing house. Angela oversees our maintenance and support relationship with clients, as well as co-ordinating contractual matters.
