As mentioned in some press releases in the last few months Sciencesoft is embarking on a new research and development project which involves developing an integrated solution for chemical enhanced oil recovery (CEOR) reservoir simulation. This project will supplement the existing Sciencesoft product suite which allows engineers to build, control, simulate and analyse reservoir simulation models within a single software solution. Sciencesoft was awarded a R&D grant from Scottish Enterprise to support the new project. Jim Watson, Director of Innovation and Enterprise services at Scottish Enterprise, said 'Increasingly the oil and gas sector needs to look outwith Scotland for growth opportunities. To do that, it needs to be globally competitive - Innovation is the key'. Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy visited the Sciencesoft offices in Glasgow on 24th July to endorse and support the project.

Sciencesoft's Sales and Marketing Director William Wood said: 'Previous R&D projects, that were supported by Scottish Enterprise Innovation grants, resulted in technologies that are now integrated into our commercial projects. We're confident that this latest project will deliver even more business value, potentially up to 21 million pounds in revenue for us

As part of our ongoing efforts to develop and raise our levels of customer service, Sciencesoft launched the 'User Group Programme' in 2015. The first ever user group was held in Tokyo, Japan last year and was very successful. Sciencesoft decided to host the user group in China this year due to an already established customer base. With help from our Agent in China Jurassic Software, we held the 2016 User Group in Beijing on the 8th September. The user group is designed as a networking opportunity bringing together the experience of the Sciencesoft team with that of local reservoir engineers. By studying different simulation scenarios using the Sciencesoft Reservoir Simulation Suite, Sciencesoft and our users are able to exchange ideas and demonstrate and develop new workflows throughout the session. With the addition of discussions with the Sciencesoft team, the user group provides a forum for information exchange between attendees.

The addition of several user presentations showing practical applications of the Sciencesoft Simulation Suite allowed the mix of existing and prospective clients (38 delegates in total) to learn from their colleagues and provided many hints and tips to enhance their workflows. The user group concluded with Sciencesoft's Dr Richard Barrett presenting our exiting new product S3schedule . The following day a sightseeing trip was organised with many delegates participating in this also. The user group was hailed a success and feedback was very positive. Everyone agreed that the user participation increased the effectiveness of the session. The mix of product techniques and user presentations ensured that everyone took something away from the day. Sciencesoft plan to roll out more user groups across many different countries in the next few years.

Well done to Jurassic Software, Brian Ferguson, Dr Richard Barrett and Dr Andrew Pollock for organising and participating in such a successful event

Sciencesoft attended the 2016 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Dubai which took place at the end of September. This is the first time that the SPE ATCE has been held in Dubai therefore a new booth was commissioned to be built. Our new design is very simplistic with a bold message representing our award-winning products. Our engineers were on hand to demonstrate the Sciencesoft Reservoir Simulation Suite including our exciting new product S3schedule at our new state-of-the-art booth. <\p>

Please see below for details of our new products:

S3optima is an assisted history matching tool which is easy to use, powerful, fast and cost-effective. It allows engineers to set-up history matching runs very quickly by means of its observed data import wizard.S3optima finds the match very efficiently, using a proprietary 3-stage matching process of Scoping, Investigation and Minimisation. S3schedule is a new sophisticated tool which enables engineers to automate and speed up key parts of their workflows - creating schedule sections of models automatically from various input data files, such as well trajectory data. S3schedule also works with production history data to give engineers the ability to use intuitive graphical methods to match simulation profiles to real production data. Sciencesoft has run a successful, paid Internship Programme for more than 10 years, giving students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of working at Sciencesoft. The programme lasts 3 months over the summer period and is open to students studying science-based subjects. The internship provides a structured overview and practical detail on how Sciencesoft's prize-winning software is built, maintained and sold around the world. This year Max Ledlie completed his internship with Sciencesoft, which finished at the end of August. Max is currently studying MSci Theoretical Physics at the University of Glasgow. Max was able to work on enhancing new sciencesoft products which are currently in production. We wish Max all the best with his future career!
